Allison and Jeffrey at getting married!

Our Story

Allison and Jeffrey met in late 2011 and officially became a couple in February 2012. They met on the dating site OKCupid, and originally Allison did not message Jeffrey because she though he lived too far away. At the time, she lived in Alexandria, Virginia and Jeffrey was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. It was about a 3-hour drive, but Allison couldn’t resist a man in uniform, and Jeffrey offered to make the drive for their first date. Soon, they were both making frequent trips to see one another.

After weathering Jeffrey’s first deployment, they moved into a house in Norfolk together in February 2013. (Jeffrey will never let her forget – they saw over 10 houses/apartments from 8 AM until 7 PM one day, each looking fine to Jeffrey. Allison finally decided that she liked the very first one they saw!) After moving in together, Jeffrey deployed again just 1 week later. However, they were lucky and he was working in security dispatch for most of the deployment, which meant that he had regular daily access to email and Facebook messenger, unlike most enlisted sailors. He came home for good in July 2013 and was honorably discharged from the Navy in April 2014.

Jeffrey proposed to Allison in October 2015. They had gone ring shopping together, but Allison did not know that he had picked up the ring, which was on back order, so she was definitely surprised!

Today, Jeffrey is back in school pursuing a degree in biology and Allison is a freelance writer and blogger. The couple volunteers together at a local animal shelter.

Our Wedding and Reception

Allison and Jeffrey are getting married in private at the courthouse in Virginia on June 27, 2017.

They are excited to celebrate with a reception on August 19, 2017 in Central Pennsylvania, where Allison grew up. The couple will share a brief wedding ceremony video at 5 PM, which will be followed by a night of food, dancing, and games.

Best man is Justin Hewitt, brother of the groom. Maid of honor is Jessica Boyer, sister of the bride.

The wedding reception will take place at Front Street Station in Northumberland, Pennsylvania. Front Street Station is an old train station that has been converted to a restaurant, with a banquet hall made of two 1930s train cars. The reception has a casual vintage/retro theme, and guests are invited to dress in outfits inspired but the 1930s-1950s (optional). If not, this is a “come as you are” wedding with no suits, ties, or pinch-y shoes required. 🙂

The couple is registered on Zola.com.
